The Adirondack Park is a New York state park. Therefore, New York state government documents pertaining to the park are key research resources. Policies, reports and plans of different government bodies can effect everything from natural resources and preservation to development and industry in the Adirondacks. Government documents also provide insight to the creation of the park, the changing attitude about the park and current concerns and issues.
Many state documents are available on the web through different state web pages, however, not everything is available online. In particular historical documents will more often than not require you to visit your local library and either access the documents there or put in an interlibrary loan request to have them sent to you.
In the state of New York there are three bodies that are particularly concerned with the Adirondack Park. They are the Adirondack Park Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
