Guest User Services

Feinberg Library welcomes patrons from the community. Guest users include:

  • Alumni of SUNY Plattsburgh;
  • Students or faculty members of another college;
  • Other members of the public.

What services can I use?

Community patrons can:

  • borrow and renew items from our general collection
    • To borrow items you may need a guest borrower's card. Consult the information about your category below.
  • consult the books in our reference area
  • use our computers around the main stairway
    • Photo ID required
  • visit and conduct research in Special Collections

If you need to use a computer, please stop at our second-floor service desk to be logged on. You will need to show a photo ID. Note that priority access is given to enrolled students.

Guest borrower's card

Before borrowing from our collection you must have a guest borrower’s card. Applications are available at the second-level service desk. You will need to show a valid form of identification (e.g., a driver’s license) when you apply.

Please note that reference materials, periodicals and some media and government documents do not circulate.

Emeritus faculty have the same privileges as current faculty. You may:

  • log onto library computers with your Plattsburgh userid and password
  • access all our databases from the library or at home
  • borrow materials with the same limits as any other faculty member

The SUNY Open Access policy grants borrowing privileges at Feinberg Library to students, staff, and faculty at other SUNYs. Show a photo ID and inform the front desk worker of your SUNY affiliation to borrow items from Feinberg.

If your college is an Eduroam member, you can use Eduroam to connect to the internet. Learn more about Eduroam at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Guest borrower restrictions

Guest borrowers may not…

  • use campus wifi
  • access online library resources from off campus
  • use the services available at the first-level service desk (computer lab area)
  • use Interlibrary Loan services
  • check out materials from Special Collections, as these are available to all for in-library use only
  • check out periodicals or materials placed on reserve
