Borrowing books from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) will soon become faster than ever for our campus community. That’s because Feinberg Library has implemented a new resource-sharing service within our Alma system.
Alma is the behind-the-scenes platform that we use to manage physical collections, digital subscriptions, and licenses. This system now supports borrowing from other libraries—faster and more efficiently than our existing Illiad system.
An easy, transparent process for patrons There’s no learning curve needed here, since the new ILL system’s user interface is very similar to the ILLiad system. Your search selections will still auto-populate into an online form when you choose to receive materials not available in Feinberg Library.
NOTE: For now, only books and media will process through the Alma system. Article requests will be handled automatically in ILLiad; you will not need to select any separate options when making requests.
The new system will also offer longer loan periods in many cases, as well as easy renewals.
We plan to launch the Alma ILL service by the end of this month. As always, feel free to contact our ILL team with any questions.
