About Our Repositories

Feinberg Library hosts open-access materials on several platforms:

  1. SUNY Open Access Repository (SOAR): Materials representing the intellectual work of the college — faculty and student writing, presentations, and more — are held in a SUNY Plattsburgh community within the SUNY Open Access Repository. For more details, see SUNY’s informational guide to SOAR.
  2. SUNY Digital Repository (SDR): Some materials from Feinberg Library’s Special Collections, along with Open Educational Resources (OERs) created by the SUNY Plattsburgh community, are stored in a SUNY Plattsburgh community within the SUNY Digital Repository. For more details, see SUNY’s informational guide to SDR. SDR is also known as “SUNY DSpace”.
  3. New York Heritage: Materials from Special Collections and University Archives are held in a SUNY Plattsburgh community within New York Heritage.

Digital exhibits developed from faculty and class projects will be built using Omeka or other appropriate, open-source platforms.

Statement on Sensitive Materials

Feinberg Library’s Collections include materials housed within Special Collections and Archives, and are made accessible to the public as historical record. Some materials within our collections contain offensive images, language, or other content. These records document a time and place in history, serving as a portrayal of the social mindsets and occurrences of their time. They do not mirror the current views of SUNY Plattsburgh or the Feinberg Library, which seek to encourage a vibrant and diverse learning community.
