“Photo was taken on March 9, 2024. It shows me, Jorge M. Brito Vargas and Willard Anderson Jr., two members of the Plattsburgh Men’s Basketball Team. This photo depicts us not only as two goofy, funny and supportive student athletes but also two basketball players in the “St. Platty’s” Day spirit wearing and rocking the color green while enjoying ourselves watching the Women’s Hockey Team game at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. It was the quarterfinals for the NCAA Division iii Tournament. The game began at 3pm and it was a good and close game from start to finish. Unfortunately, we didn’t come out on top. But despite losing to No. 6 Middlebury College, I am sure many can agree with me when I say that this day was a pretty fun and memorable day. The arena was packed up to capacity, if not more, as the majority of students all celebrated this day together, doing ‘college students’ things, during the day and then later that night. We SUNY Plattsburgh students lit up downtown Plattsburgh. The photo showcases our vibrant campus culture and the sense of community fostered through shared experiences like “St. Platty’s” Day events and athletic events. I believe that the packed arena, filled with students from diverse backgrounds, highlights the inclusive nature of campus events and the importance of sports in bringing people together. The fact that the day culminated in multiple celebratory  gatherings, including in downtown, further emphasizes the role of campus activities in creating memorable experiences and fostering social connections among students. Additionally, the photograph contributes to documenting the diverse identities of students at SUNY Plattsburgh. By featuring myself, Jorge (Hispanic) and my teammate Willard (Black), two student athletes from different backgrounds, the image reflects the university's commitment to diversity and inclusivity. It illustrates how students from various walks of life come together to participate in campus events and celebrate their shared experiences as members of the Plattsburgh community. Overall, I would bet my money’s worth that this photograph serves as a valuable primary source for capturing the dynamic and multifaceted nature of campus life at SUNY Plattsburgh, highlighting the intersection of sports, campus activities, and student diversity. This photo was originally taken by Collin BoleBruch, a photographer here on campus (not a student in our HIS104 class). He shared it with me and I adapted it for this HIS 104 assignment.”

Taken on February 21, 2024, in the H.U.B. (Honoring, Uniting, Belonging) Center, located in the Angel College Center on SUNY Plattsburgh campus. This is a meeting of the Black Student Union (BSU).  I’m not able to name every person in the photo but the majority of the students in this photo are past or present BSU board members. The category of my photo would be college activities because the BSU is a campus-supported club. This photo connects to SLO #3 because it documents and depicts diverse American identities.

The title of my photo is "PSTV Through the Years." The photo was taken on March 13, 2024. The photo was taken on the bottom floor of Yokum in the back hallway. There is a posterboard across from the TV studios with this collage on it and that is where I took the photo. So depicted in the photo are the crew and management for each of the last four semesters. At the end of each semester, an awards night is held for PSTV; at the end of the night, all of the crew and management get together for a final photo. I think it is a great tradition that I hope continues for years to come. I feel my photo could fall under either campus activities or student life because PSTV encapsulates both especially when you are involved it sort of becomes your life. My photo connects to the student learning outcomes because it documents the diversity of students in a program over the years grown and changed. I feel that it is really important to show that in this project. It is also just one other example of the countless opportunities any student, no matter what race, religion, or ethnicity you are, could have here at Plattsburgh State.

Biketopia is a small building behind Memorial hall that allows students to borrow bikes for the day in exchange for your student identification card. It's a great way for students to get out of their cramped dorms and enjoy the weather from this upcoming summer. They have a Facebook that allows them to post their hours and days they are open. The people that run it only want you to take a bike and go outside.

In this photograph you can see my friend Henry biking from biketopia after getting a bike to enjoy a bike ride. I was the person who took the photograph. This photograph in my opinion works very well with the exhibit category of Campus Activities. As a SUNY Plattsburgh student I believe all students should be able to go outside and enjoy the weather in any way. And this is just one of the ways SUNY Plattsburgh tries to better the quality of students' lives. Instead of sitting inside all day or “walking to downer for fun” you can change it up and go see places you haven't seen yet.   COVID-19 took a large toll on everyone's mental health, especially college students. Biketopia created a way for people to social distance and still go out and get that sense of connection with their friends. It brings a new aspect of outside life that I feel many more students would appreciate and enjoy!

Taken at the Saint Lawrence University Open Invitational on SLU February 16, 2024. This photo was meant to be candid but some of my teammates noticed I was taking a photo and posed. It depicts the SUNY Plattsburgh Women’s Track Team during one of their warm up runs. Many people would be appalled to racing three miles, over a 200 meter long track, but this group of goofballs seem to be thrilled to have the pleasure to do so!

This photo was taken on September 24, 2023, on campus next to the Hawkins Pond facing the Hudson Hall Annex building.  This is a photo of family day that takes place during the first semester. You can see a lot of students and family members walking around checking out the tables of campus clubs and activities set up by staff and students. This event included children’s activities, entertainment by campus groups, food trucks, and various community-building activities. Stands were set up for Greek life, campus resources, and clubs like H.O.D Modeling and the video game club. They also had a live band, a live performance by the dance team, and of course, Burghy, our school mascot, was walking around taking pictures with everybody. This photo is historically significant and helps document an important aspect of life at SUNY Plattsburgh in 2024. Community Night was a great opportunity to learn about what the Campus has to offer as well as make new friends. As a freshman, I found it very helpful to get more info about campus life.

Paths around a school can offer more than just a way to get from one building to another; they can provide a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of campus life. Picture yourself in the early morning, as the sun rises, casting a golden hue over the landscape. The air is crisp, and a gentle breeze whispers through the trees. You lace up your running shoes, eager to embark on a refreshing jog along the paths that wind around the school grounds.

One of the most enchanting routes to explore is the path that meanders by the lake. As you run, the tranquil waters mirror the dawn sky, creating a breathtaking backdrop for your morning exercise. The stillness of the lake, coupled with the soft rustling of leaves, offers a perfect moment of calm and reflection. Whether you're training for a race or simply enjoying a leisurely jog, this picturesque setting invigorates your spirit and sets a positive tone for the day ahead.

The paths are well-maintained, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. They wind through various scenic spots, offering glimpses of blooming flowers, towering trees, and perhaps even some local wildlife. Each twist and turn of the path reveals a new aspect of the natural beauty surrounding the school, making your run not just a workout, but a journey through nature's splendor.

In this serene environment, away from the demands of classes and activities, you can find a moment of peace and clarity. The combination of physical activity and the soothing natural surroundings helps to clear your mind, reduce stress, and boost your mood. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best way to prepare for the challenges of the day is to take a moment to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of a morning run.
