This photo was taken March 13, 2024,  in the third floor laundry room located in Macomb Residential Hall. What is seen in the photo is a neatly folded pile of clothes that was placed on top of a dryer. Additionally you can see there is also a brief note written on a piece of cardboard. The note reads, “Sorry I had to take your stuff out, hopefully I saved you time by folding it all (smiley face). This person, whoever they are, moved someone’s clothes without permission, however they folded the clothes and left a note to basically say “sorry”. I don't know if they should be angry or not, emotions are everywhere right now. The person that wrote the note and folded the clothes could have easily just thrown it wherever. But, they took the time to do what is seen in the photograph, and it shows us that life on campus can be and is good.

In this photo, my friends Paige (dark gray hoodie,) Lily (red hat, light gray hoodie,) and Ginny (red jacket) can be seen gathered in the first floor bathroom in Myers Hall, the art building on campus. Lily and I were upset about an assignment during our art class, so we went to the restroom to talk about it. Ginny was told she couldn’t eat in class, and knowing where Lily and I were, joined us to complain. Then Paige, who was also in the class but we hadn’t seen yet, just emerged from the stall and we all sat there talking for about 10 minutes. All participants are aware they are in this photo, and that it is being used in the exhibit.

The title of my photo is “Elements Through Nature.” This was taken at the Plattsburgh City beach on February 27, 2024. The time stamp was 3 pm on a Wednesday. I was with a couple of friends when I took this photo and I loved it. This photo consists of so many natural elements that all depicted into one photograph. We have the hot sun, the cold ice stacked on top of the water, and we then have the dry sand and earth. This photo documents the life of the students from SUNY Plattsburgh because not many people from all parts of the world get to experience something like this. For example my family and I, we were born across the country from the place, California, Los Angeles. Snow never falls over there nor does it even get as cold as it gets in Plattsburgh. When I showed my family this photo, they were so amazed and excited to get to experience something they would never have in California. This connects to SLO #4 because it is documenting the unique lifestyles of people/students at SUNY Plattsburgh.

This photo was taken March 1, 2024,  in the recreational space called “Burghy’s Den” in the Angell College Center. “Burghy” is the cardinal mascot of SUNY Plattsburgh. This photo is candid and shows Isabella Rodriguez getting ready to take the next shot in her game of pool at an Art Expo event hosted by #HealWithIt, a student-led campaign to campus, whose mission is to “create a culture of inclusiveness and teach students, faculty, staff and the community about the eight pillars of wellness: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, vocational, and financial.”

This photo was taken March 9, 2024. Two students were seen on Rugar Street next to Memorial Hall heading out for St. Platty’s Day. St. Platty’s day is an annual event that happens the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day when college students living in the city of Plattsburgh celebrate the holiday. This photo is posed.

Two feline residents of SUNY Plattsburgh watching over Sibley Hall. Cleo (gray tiger) stays on watch as Anna goes to get water. In this photograph, we can see how student life on SUNY Plattsburgh campus has evolved to allow pets and emotional support animals on campus. “Before the end of 2016 no pets or animals were [ever] allowed on campus,” said long-time SUNY Plattsburgh Student Support Services Director Michele Carpentier in an interview with the student newspaper, Cardinal Points.* Now we can see how pets and emotional support animals have made their way into the dorms of many current residences on campus.
