Research Resources

Information about materials in Special Collections exists across a number of different search tools. Many are online but some are held only in Special Collections. These tangible resources include an extensive card catalog and a series of unpublished finding aids.

Consult with Special Collections faculty and staff about the best way to research your particular interest.

Here are key digital resources to begin your research:

Collection Guides: Use our online guides to search individual collections. Contact Special Collections for information about materials that do not yet have online guides.

Rockwell Kent Collection: Find Rockwell Kent manuscripts, imprints and other ephemera housed in Special Collections.

ArchiveGrid: Use Archive Grid to search across our online collection guides and over three million collection descriptions from more than one thousand institutions.

New York Heritage Digital Collections: Find the full text of the Cardinal Yearbook, images from our photograph collections, SUNY Plattsburgh faculty newsletters, Civil War letters, and other digitized materials in the New York Heritage Digital Collections. This online database also includes digitized materials contributed by organizations from across New York state.
