I’ve been a librarian at SUNY Plattsburgh since 2010. Currently I'm the User Experience Librarian and maintain our presence on the web.
Outside the library I'm one of two historians for the City of Plattsburgh. I have a doctorate in early American history, and have also worked as an archaeologist and architectural historian.
Currently I’m researching a series of attempts in the 1790s to make maple sugar on a large enough scale to replace cane sugar grown and manufactured by enslaved persons.
Past research projects have included:
the Stamp Act of 1765
the travels of a Jacobite spy in Revolutionary America
the influence of Brazilian educator Paulo Freire on North American libraries
the interwoven histories of library classification, the publishing industry, and the nascent discipline of naval science in the late 19c
